¹³ David’s Repentance. David said to Nathan: “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied to David: “The Lord has decided to forgive your sin. You shall not die. ¹⁴ However, since you have shown your utter contempt for the Lord by this deed, the child born to you will die.”

¹⁵ After Nathan returned home, the Lord struck the child that the wife of Uriah had borne to David, and it fell gravely ill.
